PAC International is a world leader in the manufacture of integrated
access control, alarm and communications systems. The company's products are
exported throughout Europe, Asia and North America. Product design,
development, manufacture and sales/marketing activities are all undertaken
from the company's purpose-built factories in Stockport, Greater Manchester.
The Problem
PAC International Ltd was undertaking a major re-write of their core
application software that integrates with their proximity access control
system. They had decided to use Microsoft DNA to re-develop the system,
however this was a new area to them - their internal development team was
primarily used to C++. PAC appreciated that there was a risk involved in
making the jump to this new area, but also understood how necessary it was
for their system to be up-to-date and written in a modern and extensible
language.

The Solution
PAC chose Nymec to come in to consult on their proposed development. We
were requested, amongst other things, to:

- Review design patterns
- Inspect Architecture proposals
- Review Code
- Suggest ways of working with DNA

PAC were able to develop new system with confidence that they were using
sound techniques. They were reassured that they would save time by not
going up any blind alleys, or wasting time investigating alternative
development.
